Bloomington: Indiana UP, 1958. First edition. Hardcover. An association copy, inscribed in the year of publication on the front free endpaper: "For Mom + Dad, with love, Dave, Aug. 1958." His second book, part of the Indiana University Poetry Series: "The clarity and sharpness of detail which distinguished Dry Sun, Dry Wind [his first book] are also found in A Place to Stand, but Mr, Wagoner is now more interested in the recess of man's emotion and thought than in the physical world, The result is a religious kind of imagery turned to love." Wagoner studied with Theodore Roethke and also taught at the University of Washington. He won the Ruth Lilly Poetry Award and was twice minted for a National Book Award among other honors. Octavo in sage green cloth with bronze lettering stamped to spine. Very good or better with just a hint of sunning to lower board edges, an extremely minor bump to upper front corner. In a very good jacket with wear to corners and a little loss to spine crown, plus general rubbing. A sweet association . Very good / Very good. Item #2264
