Uncommon signed. A comprehensive survey of lookouts in the Northwest, replete with photos and maps in black and white. As the jacket says: "Not so long ago, lookouts were the backbone of the fire protection system. However, a new generation has brought us to an era whereby they're all but a thing of the past. As more and more fire lookouts disappear from the summits, then time has come to inventory the stores; to see protection and restoration of those cabins which are historic; to record the structures and sagas on film and in print, so that anecdotes of the people and the design of their stations may remain in perpetual memory.
