A particularly nice association because Momaday provides a blurb on the rear of jacket, reading in part: "Where the Lightning Strikes is a first-rate evocation of sacred places in the American Indian World . . . We have been need of this book for a long time." Momaday was the winner of the Pulitzer Prize for House of the Rising Dawn in 1969 and a key figure of the literary Native American Renaissance. He received the National Medal of Arts in 2007. This book "profiles sixteen locations of sacred relevance to Native Americans, explaining how each site reflects the diversity of a unique Native American culture, in a volume that covers such areas as Tennessee's Tellico Valley, Rainbow Canyon in Arizona, and the high country of northwestern California." Nabokov is a professor of American Indian Studies and Cultures at UCLA. With blurbs also by Jim Harrison, Gary Snyder, and Page Stegner. A fine book in a very good jacket that is fine except for one one-inch tear to rear edge near spine. A nice association. Fine / Very good. Item #2142
