Ader was Matthiessen's lawyer, working at Greenbaum, Wolff & Ernst in Manhattan where he also served other writers such as Eudora Welty and was the executor for artist Joseph Cornell's estate. This book, about a Zen trek alongside biologist George Schaller, won the Pulitzer Prize in General Nonfiction and is a classic of environmental writing. A very near fine copy with just a touch of nudging/sunning to spine ends and a few small spots to the top edge of the text block.
