The Eye Of The Elephant: An Epic Adventure in the African Wilderness (inscribed by both authors)

Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1992. First edition. Hardcover. Inscribed in the year of publication on the title page: "To Kay Post -- Thank you for your love of Africa. Delia Owens, Mark Owens, October 17, 1992."  The inscription is in Delia's hand, which is uncommon (Mark tends to inscribe more books), but the book is signed by both of them. Loosely a sequel to Cry of the Kalahari, which was set in Botswana and won the John Burroughs Medal for natural history writing. This book tells of their new efforts in Zambia to stem poaching of elephants and other animals by introducing cottage industries to local villages, "but some of the big commercial poachers decided the Owenses should die, and Delia and Mark's battle to save elephants turned into a fight for their own lives." Many years later Delia would go on to great fame and success for her novel Where the Crawdads Sing. Color photo insert at center. A fine book in yellow paper boards, black cloth spine; in a fine price-clipped jacket
