So Excellent a Fishe: A Natural History of Sea Turtles (signed)

Garden City, NY: Natural History Press / American Museum of Natural History, 1967. First edition. Hardcover. Signed on the title page by Carr and thus uncommon. A book central to his life's work, the study of sea turtles, a "natural history of this 'so excellent a fishe' as only a great naturalist writer can tell it." Carr's earlier book The Windward Road won the John Burroughs Medal for natural history writing. He was a professor of Zoology at the University of Florida. Blue cloth boards, black cloth spine. A good book on account of a crack to the board at the inner rear hinge; also with a few spots to the text block faces (namely the outer face) and some faint browning to pastedowns, like from underlying glue. One noticeable bead of glue at spine tail. The jacket is, fittingly, a bit wavy, but no sign of actual dampstaining; we'll call it good (a good bet is this book came for an oceanside shelf); a touch of foxing to rear panel. Good / Good.
