Forman was Buell's colleague at Harvard; he is often considered "the father of landscape ecology," which explores how ecology and human use interact in place, and is the author of the seminal textbook in the field, Land Mosaics: The Ecology of Landscapes and Regions. He has studied the Concord landscape extensively. Barbara Forman is a longtime guide for the Concord Museum and known for leading walks related to the Transcendentalists. Buell is a leading ecocritic and one of the foremost excerpts on Emerson and Thoreau. This book is his exploration of Emerson on Emerson's 200th birthday. A very near fine book but with some highlighting and underlining in the first three chapters (very studious!); see photos. Also a few marginal notes and one sticky note within.
