One Winter in the Wilderness (inscribed)

Moscow: U Idaho P, 1998. First edition. Hardcover. Signed and dated in the year of publication by the author on the half-title page. Uncommon signed. A memoir about a winter as caretakers at the remote Taylor Wilderness Research Station in the Frank Church/River of No Return Wilderness operated by the University of Idaho in central Idaho, "a blend of personal experience, historical fiction, and natural history." Pat Cary Peek's husband was a professor of wildlife resources at the University of Idaho and studied large mammals at the station (its renown for its mountain lions studied by Maurice Hornocker). We've been to this research station on Big Creek, a major tributary of the Salmon River, and it's quite the bush-plane getaway. Octavo in photo-illustrated boards; near fine with light bumping to spine ends. With a non-authorial Christmas inscription on the front free endpaper. Without a dustjacket as issued. Near fine.
