Her sixth and penultimate book, uncommon signed in any edition (this copy is the only signed copy of this title available as of this writing). Though the number line starts with "2," this is a first printing when "first edition" is stated per Random House convention through the year 2000. Jane Jacobs is world renown for her influence on urban planning via The Death and Life of Great American Cities and her activism in New York City, where she battled Robert Moses to save Greenwich Village and advocated for sidewalk vitality. In this book, written in the form of a dialogue between five friends, she "proposes a radical notion that has a breathtaking common sense: economies are governed by the same rules as nature itself" and "that we can learn to foster economies that are both efficient and ecologically friendly." Her most eco book, and the Canadian edition fitting as Jacobs moved to Toronto in 1968 and remained there until her death in 2006. A small octavo in gray cloth, 190 pages.
