Murchie was a fascinating guy who wrote about science and philosophy, especially--really he was interested in everything, a synthetic mind. He was also an aviator and won the John Burroughs Medal for natural history writing for Song of the Sky. He a was a practitioner of the little-known Baha'i faith that argues "the essential worth of all religions and the unity of all people," and this book is his most Baha'i, as some put it, "a philosophical work of immense scholarship in the field of natural science with overtones of poetry and mysticism." There's a gift inscription in this copy from "Linda & Fou'ad Baha'i" who must have been fellow member of the faith. A near fine book in blue cloth with silver lettering and decoration; corners slightly bumped.
