The recipient is prolific poet-writer Sydney Lea, a former poet laureate of Vermont and the founder of the prestigious New England Review. His poetry collection Pursuit of the Wound was a finalist for the Pulitizer in 2000, and he has also written books on sporting and wildlife, including Hunting All the Way Home (Guy de la Valdene didn't quite get the title right), which came out in 1994; Michael Pollan said of it, "These tales and essays about one man's explorations of the natural world . . . are as fresh as spring, and equally intoxicating." A nice hunting association as such. de la Valdene's book is about stewarding an 800-acre bobwhite quail farm near Tallahassee: "For a Handful of Feathers reconciles a passion for hunting with a deep sentiment for the wild." With an introduction by the author's good friend and hunting buddy Jim Harrison and a jacket illustration by Russell Chatham. Very good with a a slight slant to spine, light bumping to spine ends, and a hint of sunning to lower board edges. In a very good or better jacket with a little creasing to spine ends.
