Loren Eisley." Uncommon signed. Eisley's first and best-known book, it tells the long history of humankind's evolution, with many flights into ecology and cosmology along the way. Eisley was an anthropologist at the University of Pennsylvania who became one of the most famous naturalists of his generation, as The Immense Journey propelled him into a long career of popular science writing. A near fine copy in tomato-red cloth, a black topstain. With a small blind stamp at the top of the title page and the previous owner's small ink address stamp on the front free endpaper. In a very good, price-clipped jacket with light sunning to spine and minor wear to spine folds, spine ends, and corners; one very short tear to top of the front panel and a small pressure dent on the right side of the panel.
