Enchanted Streets: The Unlikely Adventures of an Urban Nature Lover (signed)
NY: Little, Brown, 1947. First edition. Hardcover. Signed on the front free endpaper by Dubkin. Uncommon signed. His second book, a collection of linked essays that ensues after Dubkin loses his job as a reporter because instead of reporting on a murder he stays at home to watch squirrels in his attic. Dubkin became dedicated in his books to everyday nature in the Windy City; a small park in Chicago is named after him. Illustrations by Edouard Sandoz.A very good book in gray cloth with light bumping to spine ends and a few corners and a little sunning to board edges. In a good jacket with a discrete split at the middle of the front spine fold, a sticker scuff/tear at lower right of front panel, a little loss to spine ends and several corners, a neat one-inch tear along the upper edge of the front panel, and browning, especially to spine. Still presents well, and an uncommon signature. The ad on the rear flap happens to be for Driftwood Valley by Theordora Stanwell-Fletcher, which won the John Burroughs Medal in natural history writing. Very good / Good. Item #1704
