An original black-and-white photograph, 3.5 x 3.5 inches, taken by his wife Virginia, ca. 1960. Brautigan is sitting on a porch in the sun with his head titled and his knuckles to his chin as squints in the direction of the camera.  He wears a short-brimmed straw hat with his hair short and a full beard. Strong contrast and shadows, a handsome portrait. A near fine print with trace edge wear only and with pencil notations and a stamp reading "49" on the rear. A scarce family photo of the youthful beatnik. It would look wonderful framed on almost any narrow wall space or even standing on a table
