The Limits of Altruism: An Ecologist's View of Survival (signed)

Bloomington: Indiana UP, 1977. First edition. Hardcover. Signed on the title page by Hardin and dated "1979." Uncommon signed. A book that examines scales of altruism alongside carrying capacity and human population growth, based on lectures he gave at the University of Indiana in 1976. Hardin was a populations ecologist at UC Santa Barbara renown for his often-anthologized Science essay "The Tragedy of the Commons" and for his sometimes controversial stances on overpopulation. A fine copy in blue cloth with the stamp of the Institute of Environmental Studies at the University of Washington on the pastedowns and free endpapers, otherwise unmarked.
