Lovejoy was a professor of history at the University of Madison-Wisconsin, best known for his book The Glorious Revolution in America, a finalist for the National Book Award in 1972. Susan Flader probably came to know him when she was at the Institute for Environmental Studies at UW-Madison. Leopold was also there, so a nice UW-Madison connection all around. This is the first critical study of Aldo Leopold and his importance to the environmental movement; see the description from the University of Wisconsin Press which has reprinted it. Flader is now professor emerita of American western and environmental history at the University of Missouri-Columbia (which published this volume). She is now on the board of the Aldo Leopold Foundation (see her bio).
Ochre cloth with the illustration of a wolf on a deer kill; dark olive endpapers. A near fine copy due to a little strain to the front free endpaper; otherwise fine. In a very good jacket on account of some faint white stippling to front panel and light sunning to spine. A nice association and a really handsome book
