NY: Bantam, 1987. First edition. Hardcover. A near dedication copy, inscribed to novelist Jim Harrison, author of Legends of the Fall: "To Jim, A great pal and a great help in writing this. And to many more nightcaps at the Dunes Saloon. All the best, Philip Caputo." Harrison is not the dedicatee of the book, but he is mentioned along with three others on the dedication page immediately below the dedication: "With special thanks to . . . to Jim Harrison and Thomas Sanchez, for their help and friendship." Caputo won a Pulitzer Prize for reporting and is best known for his nonfiction book A Rumor of War about Vietnam. This book is additionally a nice association as it's about a Vietnam vet who has returned to Michigan's Upper Peninsula, "Ojibwa Indian Country" as the jacket says, which is also Jim Harrison's original territory. A very good book with a light bump to the lower front corner, some fading to top edges. In a very good jacket with edge wear and rubbing and some short tears, most notably to either side of spine crown. Very good / Very good. Item #1279
